Nominator's project description

Professor Dr. Martin Dove from Cambridge University, UK Professor Dove is an outstanding scientist who has made fundamental contributions to our understanding of structure-property relations and phase transitions in silicates and other minerals by a combination of neutron scattering experiments and atomistic model simulations. Specifically, he has developed a widely applicable model to understand negative thermal expansion and the origin of rigid-unit modes in framework structures. He has also developed a number of neutron scattering and atomistic modelling techniques. In Germany, Professor Dove will continue his research on dynamically disordered systems.
